Speakers Bureau
You can take a simple action that could save someone’s life—invite a speaker from the Ohio Youth and Adult Speakers Bureau to attend your next meeting or event, whether it’s a school group, club, company, faith-based group, or government agency. The Ohio Youth and Adult Speakers Bureau is a team of specially trained volunteers who are passionate about saving lives in Ohio. The Speakers Bureau includes people whose loved ones have died by suicide and people who themselves have attempted suicide at some point in their lives. It also includes young people who have experienced the pain of being bullied. They talk about the life-changing events they have experienced in the hope of sparing others from experiencing similar pain. Each speaker has a special interactive presentation for youth or adult audiences tailored to suit your group’s needs. Lasting from 30 to 90 minutes depending on how much time you have available, the presentations can cover the latest information about suicide prevention, bullying, and/or mental illness. The presentations are free, and the speaker will leave the host of your event with an information packet for future reference. By working together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage people to seek help, we can help youth deal with the pain of bullying and save many lives that would otherwise be lost to suicide.
